Poker at home, spicing up your game a bit

One best way to learn the game is by learning it with your friends. You can do this by organizing poker nights at home with a few chit chats and of course some food and wine.

You can play poker from one home to another making a tour of your circle of friend’s places. You can go from betting a few pennies, a few dollars, to hundreds of bucks. One night per week is great. We list down some things which can help you spice up your home poker a bit.

Understanding Variance in Poker

AJos Ace Jack off SuitThere is a lot of mathematics involved when determining the variance in poker, but for anyone to understand what a variance is, the concept should be explained in a simplistic, non-mathematical method.
Simply put, the variance in poker is the ups and downs of the game. Settling with that explanation, though, would be overly simplistic and not very complete.

A more detailed description of the variance is this: it is the difference between the average amount of money a player is expecting to win in the long run and the results s/he is seeing over a short period of time. For example, if you expect to win $200 on average but you lose $1000 instead, this is due to variance (or your lack of knowledge about it).

Variance in a game of poker can only be monitored and deduced over a long period of time. If you’ve only been playing poker for a day, it’s close to impossible to compute the variance of your games. Variance is also a tricky value to compute because it is controlled by one thing: one’s stroke of luck.

Managing your poker table image

When playing poker, you must be conscious of your poker image.Poker Table Image It is basically how others will perceive you as a poker player and is determined by how you play the game.

Most of the time, other players will read you by how you play your cards. Other factors which may affect your image may include how you behave on the table in front of your opponents.

Other players can judge if you are a tight player if you are the silent type on the table. Be talkative and enjoy the game, and you can be perceived with a loose table image.

Your poker table image is very important because other players will base on it the strategies they will use against you.

When you have a loose table image, most of the time, other players will be willing call and raise against your bets. They will have a thinking that you have lower standards when deciding if you will play the cards that you have.

You might be a money magnet when you play a big hand if you have a loose image. Your image will disguise your bets, raises, re-raises, or all ins and lead them to a trap.

On the other hand, a tight image will lead other players to be more conservative to play against your call. Your opponents might think that you have a good or big hand every time you throw in those chips.

Wisdom outscores luck in Poker

KJ PokerThe game of poker has become a synonym for words like intelligence, instinct and wisdom to name a few. Much have been talked about the game of poker but little does anyone know that with a proper blend of intelligence and game plan one can easily beat a player and earn himself “easy money”.

The game of poker requires regular monitoring of the cards with every deal and if you are smart enough you can always anticipate the probable cards that your competitors are holding. Never go for a high money table if you are trying your hands at a new game. A wise person will always practice his hands on a free or a low money table to get acquainted with all the rules and regulation of the game and then move to a high table.

While playing the game one should also refrain from drinking alcohol. There is very beautiful saying that “You cannot serve to masters at the same time” and if you do then one of the masters will surely suffer. Drinking with the game of poker can prove to be very costly as the game of poker itself requires players to be at the tip of their senses with every move.
